art 1 final portfolio

11.   Which project was your favorite or most successful this semester? Please explain.
I feel like my landscape painting was my favorite or most successful. I really took the time to make the flowers look almost 3 dementional and realistic. I think this painting also took me the longest because I really strived to make it look good. This photo is also my favorite because I was able to be really creative while as with some of the other projects, when I would finish them, I was more or less disappointed. My favorite thing to draw are flowers because there are so many different colors and shades that you can use! I really like shading (that may sound odd but it's true!) because I get to mix colors and it gives the photo a really cool ombre effect. My favorite flowers are the pink ones in the center even though it took up most of my time. I'm  more or less a perfectionist when it comes to paintings and I was actually really proud of myself for it! Overall, this is my favorite painting because I felt my most creative and talented.

12.   Regardless of whether you liked or disliked a project, which one did you learn, grow, or developed the most from? Please explain.

I felt like I learned and grew the most during this project. This is because I used every aspect of what we learned in Art 1. For example; shading and perspective. I learned that even 3D objects need to be shaded because even though they come off the page, the sculpture would fall flat. I grew from this by going out of my comfort zone a little. I was so afraid I would mess up, but I just had to go with it and know that the outcome would still look good. I think I developed the most skill from the project because I've never done anything like this before so I now have a new skill st in art! I actually really liked the outcome because I used all cool colors and it makes the picture look really realistic. Overall, I think I learned, grew and developed from this project the most because it was something new.

13.   Choose 1 piece of Art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects. Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and techniques to create the piece.
I think this photo was definitely one of my pieces that I felt I had to use previous techniques from other projects. We had made contour hand drawings earlier in the semester and we had to use the same skills when drawing the shoe! When we drew the hands, I was new to contour drawing so I wasn't very good and I messed up a lot. But from the contour hands, I learned my mistakes and made a much more accurate shoe drawing. Also, as time passed, I gained more skill and overall became a better artist. So compared to the contour hand drawings, I didn't just gain more experience, I became a better artist as the semester proceeded. This drawing, of course wasn't my favorite, but I did incorporate so many skills from previous work. Overall, I feel like I used the most previous skills in this contour shoe drawing.

4.   Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in this course? Please explain.
I feel like this was the least important in learning the concepts taught in the course. I absolutely hated this project. It was so irrelevant so the other projects and it was so time consuming. I'd consider this more of a street art style and I wasn't looking to spray paint. The tracing and cutting alone took a whole week! I like to bring home my art work and hang them up but I felt like this project is not worth it. It was most definitely the most "off course" assignment we had. It was boring and I just didn't feel creative because all I was doing was tracing. Art isn't about tracing, it's about expressing yourself through colors and shapes. Overall, I felt like this was the least important concept taught in the course.

15.   Choose a piece or artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a personal connection to. Please explain your choice.
I think this reflects me as an artist and I have a personal connection to it. First of all, one of my favorite colors is hot pink. Second, the beach is my favorite place to be at and flamingos are considered "beachy". Even though this isn't my best work, I really like it because it almost reflects my personality! I find myself outgoing, fun, girly, and loud! My family and me are really beach-oriented people because that is when we all get to be together. In other words, this painting reminds me of my family because it reminds me of the beach where we can all be together. Overall, I think this reflects me as an artist and I have a personal connection to it.
