reaction project
I don't have a picture of my reaction project but it's safe to say i hated it. i worked really hard and was searching too hard for perfection and definitely didn't find it. i wish i went with something simpler and less strenuous.
museum
i saw this and i liked it because of its simplicity and i liked the texture
at first, i didnt like this one but once i got closer the textures were really cool.
i dont like this one because it looks like colorful vomit.

Final Blog Post
In my opinion, my most successful piece this semester was my charcoal butterfly which was the first project we did. I don't have a picture of the final product but I think this picture gets the point across. It is my favorite because of how detailed and unique it is. I spent so much time working on it that I definitely connect with the piece. The butterfly definitely shows my skills in shading which I like about it as well. Overall, this is my favorite piece because of the time and skill that went into this piece. im very proud of it and it is definitely one of my favorite pieces I've done not only in this class, but in my whole lifetime.
In my opinion this is my least successful piece. I believe that it is my least successful because I just think it was poorly executed. the beads are too big and are hard to fit around the chinese symbols and the shape in also impractical. I actually liked the idea of my project a lot better than the actual outcome. the original was supposed to be a crown that could hang on the wall and I wanted it to be gold. I wish I followed through with what I originally planned. Overall, this is my least favorite and least successful because of how impractical it is and how I didn't follow through with what I originally planned.

third project
for this project (which I have no finished) I have done a girl that is distressed because she dyed her hair the wrong color. I haven't painted the hair yet but it is going to be green. I am enjoying this project as of now but I am definitely having difficulties finding the correct paint colors and shading.

textures
the first picture of texture is the ridges on the lamp. the second one is the weaving of a basket. the third one is the ridges in the cup. the fourth one is the indentations of the wooden door and the fifth one is the seer sucker of the comforter.

for my second project, I don't have a picture but my essential question was "what is pop art?". I used various colors to create a lot of shapes which filled up the whole page. I enjoyed this project because I've never done anything similar before!

article response
art without meaning, in my opinion, is not always decoration. art can have absolutely no meaning to one person but can mean the world to someone else. It just depends on the person's state of mind and perception of what art means or doesn't mean.

butterfly
For my project i did a charcoal butterfly. my subject is value. i chose this because i enjoy shading and thought i could incorporate it well in my project. i also have always wanted to do an art project butterfly but never knew how because of shading purposes but even though i am not finished, i am happy with the results so far.

Character design
When I was little, I always loved to draw princesses and
dresses so these characters bring me back. I created a princess, an evil witch,
a castle, and an underground home. The princess is a lovely girl who always
gets along with everyone but the evil witch hates that and is jealous of her.
The witch wants to take her place as the princess and has been out for the
princess since they were both young. The witch lives by the creek were the
princess enjoys to fish at. She plots her vengeance and always tries new spells
and potions but the princess’s kind heart makes the potions ineffective. I chose
the clothing to bring back class and the time period. I’m not too thrilled with
what I’ve drawn but I do like the castle.
Drawing Art Portfolio
1) My “oh the places we will go” drawing, in my opinion, was my
most successful. When I heard the project name, I immediately thought of bright
colors and traveling. I came up with a pretty cool idea to do hot air balloons
and I’m really proud of this drawing. The materials I used were pen, marker,
and water color. At first, I wanted all black and white balloons with just the
blue water colored sky in the background. I was told that I needed more color
so I added the marker to a couple of the balloons. I didn’t add it to all of
them because I really liked the way the balloons looked without color. I actually
wish I didn’t color the balloons at all. I chose a medium-sized square. I chose
this size because I wanted to add a lot of balloons in a more compact area to
show the realm of possibilities for travel and adventure. Overall, this was my
favorite project.
2) My “animals on the go” project was the project that I overcame
the most obstacles on. The main obstacle I had was shading all the scales and
finding value in each and every one of them. I wasn’t going to shade each and every
one of the scales individually... right? Wrong. The only way to perfect the chameleon
was to shade each and every scale. Each scale took one-two minutes to draw, so
imagine having to draw over 100 scales. Plus, I had to draw the branch, the
bug, and the other parts of the chameleon. Of course, this was also my most
time-consuming project. What should’ve taken one week, took two. I had to come
to Mrs. Rossi’s desk and ask her what I could do better until I felt it was
perfect. Another area in which I struggled was just liking my own work. When I started
the thumb nails for this drawing, everything felt hopeless. Even when I finished,
I still didn’t feel like the drawing was good enough until I got a few
compliments on how people in my art class thought it looked like I printed it
off of the internet. I challenged myself by taking a risk on something I had never done before (drawing a reptile). Overall, the “animals on the go” project was the project
that I overcame the most obstacles on.
3) These two pieces show my growth as an artist. In the figure
drawing, I grew by being proportional. When I drew people before, I would
always focus on the teeny, tiny details before I even looked at the big
picture. Now, I know how to draw quickly and still get the look that I want. Also,
I used to never be able to use charcoal. It was basically a deal breaker for
art projects. If we were using charcoal, I gave up then and there. Now, I can
say that I enjoy using charcoal because of its blending qualities and how easy
it is to use when you know what you’re doing. In my character drawing, I grew
as an artist by learning my own style. The character project made me really
stressed out because I wasn’t used to having so much freedom to draw what I wanted.
Through this project, I learned how to use water colored pencils and I found my
style of art. Now, instead of using water color for small areas, I can now use
water color pencils and add more detail by using them. Overall, these were the
two projects that I grew the most on.
4) This semester teachers introduced a new way of teaching and
learning. Students had choices in subject matter and materials. I liked and
disliked this at the same time. I feel like it was effective by letting
students find their personality in their work. It made me enjoy what I was
doing and I took more pride in my work. I felt like I was trusted more to make
good decisions on my pieces rather than possibly not enjoying a material being
used and then feeling like I couldn’t do the project. I also disliked this
because sometimes I didn’t know what to do and I felt confused and looking for
approval with each material I sought after. Although I enjoyed the freedom of
materials, I also disliked that I had a very vague basis on which to produce a
project upon.

animals on the go
I used Prisma Colors to add value to this drawing by adding
white and black to areas and darker/lighter values of a color. I showed
movement in this drawing by the chameleon by it reaching out with its tongue to
grab a beetle. I think that there are many benefits to using Prisma Colors. One
of them being that you can use a lot of layers of colors and overlap colors to
brighten them. I think the benefits to sketching are to get a good idea of what
you want before you make a final product. It allows you to experiment with different
styles and values. This project took a really long time and I had a little
trouble getting all the really light values. Overall I really enjoy the end
product and I’m proud of it!
Figure Drawing
This week we did figure drawings. Proportion and scale are
very important in figure drawings because if one aspect is wrong, then the
whole drawing won’t look proportional. For example, if your hip placement and
your shoulder placement don’t align correctly, then the rest of the body won’t
look to scale. I think that I showed mass and volume in this picture by making
the shoulders and hips the right way and by adding ripples and shading. I think
gesture drawings and figure drawings are really beneficial because they help
you understand the human body and how it moves. I like working with charcoal
because it blends easily and you can be freer with charcoal than you can with
pencil. I think I had challenges with the shirt because it was so loose and it
is hard to look at a body with loose clothes on and still make it look
proportional. Overall, I really liked doing gesture and figure drawings because
I could add my own style with still being precise with the movement of the
body.

oh the places we will go
I wanted to think of something fresh and new and fun. I came up with air balloons because they are so whimsical and colorful! First, I sketched out what i wanted to draw in pencil; second, I painted the backgroud blue with watercolor; third, i sketched and cross hatched everything in pen; and last, i colored two balloons to give this drawing a lot of different aspects and materials. I don't feel like i struggled too much with this painting but the cross hatching was very tedious. In the end, I really like the outcome!
swimming
First, I tried to find a "one of a kind" idea. I really like the way the human body looks when its swimming so I decided to go with a swimming position. The point of view affects this drawing by almost following the drawing. it makes you wonder where she was going and why she was doing it. I never found myself very good at drawing the human body or any features that came with it. Drawing the legs and feet really made me challenge myself to go out of my comfort zone. My creative process begins like this: first, I clear my mind; second, I come up with various ideas that no one else will do; and third, I challenge myself by finding the most difficult, yet creative, piece. Overall, I really enjoyed this project!
Paper bag
Value is important because if all I drew were lines, then the bag wouldn't look realistic Value is also important to see where you're lights and darks are. I like this drawing because the individual lines really stand out! I think i could've done better by adding more of the dark values and less of the light values. Overall I really liked this project because it really challenged my shading skills and it taught me better perspective on shape.

fish tile
today, we painted a fishtile and i really liked the outcome! first, i painted a blue base coat and then inpainted the main colors, andlastly, i painted a shiny coat!
landscape
today we did a landscape drawing for class. It's not much of a landscape photo but i still really like it. I really liked painting this picture because i got to be really creative! a lot of shading and hard work went into this picture. first, we painted the picture a green or orange. next, we painted the things closest to the back, and then the things closest to the front. Overall, i really enjoyed painting this. i got to be as creative as i wanted!

flamingo stencil
In this picture, we made a stencil and it came out as this pretty, hot pink flamingo stencil! First, we drew a full size picture in our art notebooks of 2 animals. Then, we chose 3 different angles for each drawing. After that, we chose which one we liked the best and we chose the angle we liked best for the drawing we chose. Next, we traced the flamingo into the linoleum and then started carving! Soon, we chose paper and the paint color that we wanted and printed the flamingo onto the sheet of paper! I enjoyed this lot and really liked the outcome! I would definitely love to do this again some time! Although my cuts could’ve been a little cleaner, I still enjoyed this project a lot!

Frog Tongue
Today, we attached a frog to a tongue to make the person above look like their tongue was in the shape of a frog. First, we copy and pasted a picture of a frog and a picture of a tongue to Photoshop. Next, we had to crop the frog so that there was no background. After that, we had to make the background of the frog look like the tongue. And last, we added a shadow so it looked more realistic. Overall, I enjoyed this more than the pancake monster because it was easier which I was actually surprised about. This one took me a lot less time. It also looks better. I still enjoy regular drawing rather than Photoshop, but today was a better experience than the other day.

pancake monster
Today we attached a fish mouth to a delicious looking pancake creating.. "pancake monster". I found this assignment really annoying and tedious. As you can see, my pancake monster was more like a blob with teeth. I found it really difficult to cut out the fish mouth and to create a normal looking spot to put the pancake in. As you can see in the bottom of the picture, i had a tough time opening up the pancake correctly so that it would fit the mouth which obviously didn't work out a planned. I find myself enjoying actually drawing and painting rather tan using photo shop to create art. Furthermore, I don't like using computers to create any type of art. I pretty much just find photo shop confusing and annoying. I wish the outcome of the so called "pancake monster" turned out better and was easier but the picture itself obviously showed how much i struggled. Overall, I didn't enjoy this project and would rather use an actual pencil rather than a computer mouse.
